Candidate Filing Requirements

Filing for the City of Taylor Lake Village May 4, 2024, regular general election will be from January 17-February 16, 2024, from 8-5 Monday-Thursday, Friday 8-noon in the City Secretary's Office at City Hall (500 Kirby). Filings will be for Council Positions 1, 3 and 5.

Type A City (Local Gov't Code, Section 22.032)

Mayor
Residence -- 1 year in state prior to the filing deadline; 1 year in city prior to election day
Age -- 18
Must be a registered voter in territory elected from by the filing deadline

Councilmember
Residence -- 1 year in state prior to filing deadline; 6 months in the city prior to filing deadline
Age -- 18
Must be a registered voter in territory elected from by the filing deadline

2024 General Election

The General Election for members of the City Council is held annually on the 1st Saturday in May.  Find additional election-related dates and information at Important Election Dates 2023-2024.


The May 4, 2024, General Election will be held at Taylor Lake Village City Hall, located at 500 Kirby. Filing for a place on the ballot is set by state statute and will run from January 17 to February 16, 2024. Candidate applications may be filed:
- in person, with the City Secretary's office at City Hall; 
- by mail; an application submitted by mail is considered to be filed at the time of its receipt by the appropriate filing authority. or
- by fax or email - "A signed, sworn, scanned candidate application may be submitted by fax or email. Please be advised that an application must be notarized prior to filing via fax or email."
