DPS Failure to Appear / Failure to Pay Program

A WARRANT CAN BE SERVED AT ANY TIME OR PLACE. If a warrant is issued your case will be sent to a Collections Agency (30% fee added) and a hold will be placed on your driver's license with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

You will not be able to renew your license until the balance is paid in full.

Court Issued Warrants
The court may issue a warrant when:

  • You Failed to Appear or Violated your Promise to Appear
  • You Failed to comply with an Order of the Court.
  • You do not complete a payment plan or failed to make payment as promised.

Resolving a Warrant
Your warrant may be released by entering a plea of guilty or no contest and paying the total amount due in Person or ONLINE. The hold placed on your driver's license with the Texas Department of Public Safety will only be released when the total amount due is paid. Please allow 3 to 5 business days for the hold to clear.

Payment must be in the form of cash, cashier’s check or money order. Credit cards payments will be assessed a 3% fee and the card must be issued in the Defendant’s name. -No Personal Checks.

If you want to plead Not Guilty to a violation after a warrant of arrest has been issued, you may post a Cash Bond or Surety Bond at the Taylor Lake Village Municipal court during business hour to obtain a Court date. Capias warrants are NON-BONDABLE.

Cash bond - A cash bond is usually equal to the amount of the fine. This money must be paid in the form of cash, cashier’s check or money order. (CREDIT CARDS ARE NOT ACCEPTED AS PAYMENT FOR CASH BONDS) You will receive receipt of your cash bond which will indicate a court date.

Surety Bond - A local bondsman or a lawyer usually provides this bond.
